Roxanne (Roxy) Fredericksen is the Head Roaster at Kaiserblick Specialty Coffee, based at the roastery in Apaneca, El Salvador.
Background
Roxy began her coffee career in 2020 at the age of 16 as co-founder of HOPE Neighborhood Roasters, an educational coffee-roasting business for youth in Washington State, USA. She received first-hand training from Steve Diedrich, founder of Diedrich Roasters. (source: kaiserblick-dev-crawl.md)
She has hands-on experience harvesting and processing coffee in the Peruvian Andes, and has studied the geographical factors — altitude, latitude — that influence coffee growing, roasting, and brewing.
Role at Kaiserblick
Roxy leads:
- Development of roast profiles for each microlot (three profiles per lot, developed in 1/4-lb batches)
- Guided cupping sessions with clients to select the optimal profile
- Final production roasting in 2-lb batches on the Aillio Bullet R2 Pro roaster
- The visitor roasting and tasting experience
