BOOST Kit

An optional hardware + software upgrade that expands the standard 120g chamber to variable batch sizes of 50–200g in 10g increments. Includes:

  • One-time activation code (tied to the machine’s serial number; non-transferrable)
  • Two chamber extension rings (Short and Tall) for batches above 120g
  • The roaster automatically scales heat and fan settings to match the selected weight

Kaffelogic Studio

Free roasting software available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Provides:

  • Live roast view: real-time display of the roasting process during a batch
  • Bean and fan curve control: adjust both temperature and airspeed profiles
  • Levels system: +/− buttons on the machine adjust end temperature in pre-defined increments, either before or during a roast — for quick dark/light adjustments without modifying the profile
  • Profile management: create, edit, save, and share profiles; works offline without a connected roaster
  • Community profiles: shareable via the Kaffelogic community forum and Facebook group

Pre-loaded profiles cover the main use cases:

Competition credentials

The Nano 7 has been used in multiple World Brewers Cup (WBrC) competitions. Kaffelogic claims 2 world championship wins using the machine; Carlos Medina was the most recent WBrC champion to use the Kaffelogic. Baristas also use it in Barista Championship competition prep for sample roasting of competition lots. (source: Kaffelogic (website))

Professional use case

Beyond home roasting, the Nano 7 is positioned as a sample roaster for professional environments:

  • Pre-loaded cupping and QA profiles for consistent lot evaluation
  • Compact (3.6 kg, 125mm footprint) — fits on a lab bench or café counter
  • Back-to-back roasting with no inter-batch wait time
  • Used by specialty roasters for sample evaluation before scaling to production
  • Compatible with Cropster roast logging as an alternative to Studio

See Sample Roasters for comparison with ROEST, IKAWA, and Aillio.

Relevance to Kaiserblick

The Kaffelogic Nano 7 is relevant to Kaiserblick in two ways:

  1. Sample roasting at origin: its compact footprint and quick cycle time make it practical for cupping green lots at the processing facility before export — strengthening the quality narrative for European buyers.
  2. Roast profile development: Roxanne Fredericksen leads Kaiserblick’s roast profile development; the Nano 7’s Kaffelogic Studio and pre-loaded cupping profiles provide a low-cost, low-space complement to production-scale roasting.

The lack of a Latin America distributor means direct purchase from New Zealand. No significant duty-avoidance opportunity without a regional re-seller.

Nucleus Coffee Tools Partnership

Kaffelogic maintains a significant technical and commercial partnership with Australian manufacturer Nucleus Coffee Tools:

  • LINK Studio software (the desktop roasting software for the Nucleus LINK sample roaster) is hosted on Kaffelogic’s web infrastructure at webservices.kaffelogic.com
  • The two companies jointly sponsor the WCRC (World Coffee Roasting Championship) as co-official sample roasters from 2024 to 2027
  • The LINK and the Nano 7 represent complementary products from the same Oceanian specialty ecosystem: the LINK maximizes portability and competition branding; the Nano 7 offers broader batch-size flexibility and deep open software control

This partnership has not been widely publicized but is apparent from the software download URLs. (source: Nucleus Coffee Tools (website))
