Penagos Hermanos S.A.S. is a Colombian agricultural machinery manufacturer with 130 years of history, headquartered in Piedecuesta (Santander). It is one of the two primary wet-mill equipment candidates for Kaiserblick alongside Pinhalense. Penagos’s speciality is eco-friendly (water-eliminating) coffee wet processing equipment, which has driven its expansion across Central America and beyond.

Key Innovation: Water-Free Pulping

Penagos markets the ECOLINE and UCBE lines on the elimination or near-elimination of water in the pulping step, combined with reduced power and reduced mechanical bean damage. This combination was the decisive factor in their entry into water-stressed Central American markets. The claim is well-supported by documented installations across the region.

Regional Presence and Clients

Central America installations documented:

  • Costa Rica: 16 micro-mills with DCV technology (“Costa Rican Micro-mill Revolution”), 1,000 bags each
  • Nicaragua: La Guadalupana Reserve — full coffee mill with UCBE-2500
  • Also active in Venezuela, Peru, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Hawaii, Jamaica, Brazil

El Salvador Distribution

Motores y Maquinaria de El Salvador — authorised Penagos distributor in El Salvador; 5 branches nationwide; actively stocks and promotes ECOLINE-800 and ECOLINE-1000; main contact: +503 2288-1010 (Merliot). See Motores y Maquinaria de El Salvador for full branch list and contacts.

Mayeca (Guatemala) — authorised Penagos distributor for Guatemala; Fraijanes office near ES border may allow cross-border orders, but no confirmed ES service presence or installation on record.

Procurement Status for Kaiserblick

The ECOLINE-800 and ECOLINE-1000 are the primary evaluation targets for Kaiserblick’s wet mill. Both are in stock in El Salvador via Motores y Maquinaria de El Salvador.

ECOLINE-1000 specs (confirmed via ES distributor):

AttributeECOLINE-1000
Cherry capacity700–1000 kg/h
PulperDH-3½ horizontal
Pulper motor1 HP
DELVA (demucilager)3 HP
Combustion engine option8–10 HP
Water0.2 L/kg cherry
Weight220 kg
Integrated water meterYes

ECOLINE-800: Uses DH-6 pulper (6 cylinders, larger than ECOLINE-1000’s DH-3½). Same 0.2 L/kg cherry water claim. The DH-6 is counterintuitively larger than DH-3½ — clarification needed from distributor before procurement. Full spec: request from distributor.

Technical Support FAQ Coverage

The Penagos website includes a detailed technical support FAQ for all equipment families (source: Penagos (website)):

  • DH horizontal pulpers: causes of pulp–parchment mixing, broken beans, capacity shortfall
  • MC sorting modules: unpulped beans, mechanical damage, pulp contamination
  • ECOLINE units (ECO-400/800/1000): same fault modes as DH series (shared pulping mechanics)
  • UCBE compact mills: 7 fault modes with causes and fixes; conveyor belt wear as a cause of pulp evacuation failure
  • DCV/UDC sorting units: calibration guidance, demucilager basket clogging, belt and speed issues
  • Ecomill-500: mucilage carry-over, jamming procedure, mechanical damage causes
  • Conveyor belts: alignment, lubrication, speed control via variable-frequency drive

Verification Notes

  • Full spec sheets (capacity kg cherry/hr, water use L/kg, power, footprint) for ECOLINE-400 and ECOLINE-800 were not captured in the 2026-05-13 crawl (503 errors on product pages) — the ECOLINE-1000 specs were obtained via Motores y Maquinaria de El Salvador
  • ECOLINE-800 vs. ECOLINE-1000 pulper size anomaly: the ECOLINE-800 uses a DH-6 (6-cylinder), while the ECOLINE-1000 uses a DH-3½ — counterintuitive if model numbers reflect capacity; may indicate the model name refers to the demucilager capacity rather than the pulper; clarification needed from distributor
