Jonas Reindl Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster and café group based in Vienna, Austria, founded in 2014 by Philip Feyer (founder and Head Roaster). The name refers to a local neighbourhood nickname near Schottentor station — “Jonas Reindl” (Jonas’ Pan) — coined after Mayor Franz Jonas, whose 1961 transport hub resembles a cooking pan in Viennese dialect.
Identity and operations
Jonas Reindl operates four cafés across Vienna and a roastery:
| Location | Type | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| Währinger Straße 2–4, 1090 | Café | Mon–Fri 8:00–17:30 / Sat–Sun 9:00–17:00 |
| Westbahnstraße 13, 1070 | Café + Roastery | Daily 9:00–17:00 |
| Josefstädter Straße 67, 1080 | Café | Daily 9:00–17:00 |
| Landstraßer Hauptstraße 21, 1030 | Café | Mon–Fri 8:00–17:30 / Sat–Sun 9:00–17:00 |
Their stated philosophy: “craftsmanship over ease and quality over convenience.” They develop individual roast profiles for each coffee and brew with “down-to-the-second precision.”
Roasting
All coffee is roasted in small batches of 10 kg maximum at the Westbahnstraße roastery. The small-batch approach is a deliberate quality choice — tighter control over roast parameters for greater consistency and flavour precision. They produce both filter and espresso roasts.
Sourcing philosophy
Jonas Reindl places full traceability at the centre of their sourcing: “the ability to know where their coffee comes from down to the name of each farmer.” Their position on trade models is explicit — they consider direct trade superior to Fairtrade in terms of farmer compensation and transparency.
One direct trade relationship exists (Finca Los Alpes, Nicaragua, since 2014). Other coffees are sourced via wholesalers under a transparency-required policy. Known importer: Goldkind Coffee supplies the Panama lot (Barú Panorama, confirmed on product page). Other wholesaler identities are not publicly disclosed.

Fit for Kaiserblick
HIGH fit. Key factors:
- No El Salvador in the current portfolio — gap to fill with a narrative single-origin or micro-lot
- Active wholesale buyer — actively seeking roastery partners; they have stated infrastructure and history for this
- Transparency as a non-negotiable — matches Kaiserblick’s farm-to-cup traceability model precisely
- Goldkind connection — already sources their Barú Panorama (Panama) via Goldkind Coffee; a shared supply chain contact that may warm an introduction
- Organic credentials valued — house espresso is organically certified, Brazil lot is Rainforest Alliance certified; Kaiserblick’s organic transition story is relevant
- No EU organic (BIO) hard requirement — unlike Coffee Pirates Vienna, no certification gate identified
- Vienna market — Austria is a target export country for Kaiserblick; two High-fit Vienna roasters already identified (Jonas Reindl + Coffee Pirates)
