Chichontepec
Sources: Coffee Geography (website)
Chichontepec is one of El Salvador’s six official coffee-growing regions, situated in the central zone of the country on the slopes of the Las Pilas volcano (also known as Chichontepec). Its volcanic soils support coffees described as “incredibly balanced” — clean, sweet, and approachable. (source: Coffee Geography (website))

Chichontepec is characterized as “the balanced all-rounder” — a clean, sweet, approachable profile without the sharp acidity of some other regions. (source: Coffee Geography (website))
Discrepancy Note
The existing El Salvador Coffee Regions wiki page (built from XLIII Coffee and Colipse Coffee sources) lists the sixth region as “San Salvador (San Salvador Volcano)” rather than Chichontepec. Both names may refer to the same volcanic massif — the San Salvador volcano (Boquerón) is part of the broader Chichontepec/Las Pilas complex — or they may represent different regional classification systems. This needs verification against official ISC or DO documentation.
Relevance to Kaiserblick
Chichontepec is not where Kaiserblick Specialty Coffee farms are located — all six farms are in Apaneca-Ilamatepec. The region is useful context for understanding the national competitive landscape and the range of profiles available from El Salvador.
