Screaming Goose Coffee

Screaming Goose Coffee is a Canadian specialty roasting brand founded in January 2024 by Rafael Gerardo Silva Jr. (and partner Alejandra) — the same Rafael Jr. who co-owns and manages SICAFESA in El Salvador. The brand was conceived during a Christmas visit to Ontario: “What if we were to start a roasted coffee brand in Canada?”
The brand operates from London, Ontario, with pickup available at Local Rotisserie (79 Bessemer Road, Unit 17, Patrick’s Beans, London ON N6E 1P9; +1 226-378-5100). Online sales ship across Canada.
Significance
Screaming Goose is SICAFESA’s own direct-to-consumer brand in Canada — a form of vertical integration that bypasses traditional export intermediaries entirely. Instead of selling green coffee to a Canadian importer who sells to a roaster who sells to consumers, Rafael Jr. controls the full chain to the end customer himself.
This mirrors the model Kaiserblick is building in El Salvador and for European export: a vertically integrated company that captures value across the chain.

Notes on SL-28 in El Salvador
Per the product description: SL-28 originated in Kenyan lab research, migrated to El Salvador in the 1970s, and has adapted well — now considered high-yielding, large-cherry, and high cup quality in the Salvadoran context. At El Angel it produces jasmine/black currant/sugar cane/pepper flavor profiles under honey processing.
Source Errors Noted
The Siberia product page on the Screaming Goose website reads “five Cup of Excellence Awards: 2005, 2007, 2008, 2012, 2021, and 2022” — enumerating six years while calling it five. The correct count is six (confirmed by the SICAFESA wiki). The product page contains a writing error. (source: Screaming Goose Coffee (website))
