miró Coffee

miró is a Swiss specialty coffee roaster and café group founded in 2013 in Zurich. The brand’s tagline is “miró. made in Zurich.” In 2025, crema Schweiz awarded miró Roaster of the Year 2025. Since April 2021, miró is the exclusive specialty coffee served on SWISS Airlines flights — the first freshly brewed specialty coffee available above the clouds on Swiss.
Founders
The company was co-founded by David (full surname not confirmed from website). His hands-on sourcing work includes a personal farm visit to SanCoffee in Brazil for their first direct trade (Boa Vista).
Locations
miró operates multiple own cafés and a coffee truck across Zurich, including the Brauer and Kreuzplatz locations. They also supply wholesale to cafés and offices under a “Serve miró” programme (wholesale and office supply channels). The wholesale contact page returned an error during crawl — contact details need to be confirmed directly.
Coffee programme
miró’s retail range is entirely specialty, priced CHF 10.5–45 per 250g (CHF 60 for special editions). Coffees are sold as filter or espresso roast.

Direct trade
miró has confirmed direct-trade relationships with at least two origins:
- Boa Vista (Brazil): David visited SanCoffee in Campo das Vertentes, Minas Gerais. SanCoffee is B Corp certified and supports grower families in the region. This was miró’s first direct trade.
- El Diviso Sidra (Colombia): Sourced directly from Nestor and Adrian Lasso (Finca El Diviso, Pitalito, Huila).
The direct-trade appetite signals openness to producer relationships, which is relevant for Kaiserblick’s approach.
Organic certification
Some coffees carry CH-BIO-006 (Swiss organic certification) — notably Santa Rosa (Honduras) and El Diamante (Peru). Organic certification is not required across the range; most coffees are not certified. No certification barrier for Kaiserblick to supply miró.
Media coverage
miró has been featured in the Financial Times, Gault Millau, NZZ Bellevue, Annabelle, Radio 24, Tagesanzeiger, and Monocle.
Fit for Kaiserblick
HIGH fit. Key factors:
- No El Salvador in portfolio — completely absent. Kaiserblick would be the first Salvadoran supplier; clear first-mover advantage.
- Swiss geography — Switzerland is within Kaiserblick’s export target (DE/FR/BE/NL/AT/CH).
- Direct trade appetite — miró has established direct-trade relationships and visited farms personally. This aligns with Kaiserblick’s vertically integrated model.
- Price range alignment — CHF 20–45 for single-origin filter coffees; the El Diviso Sidra at CHF 45 shows willingness to pay premium prices for exceptional micro-lots. Kaiserblick’s rare varieties (Bernardina, Pacamara, Sudan Rume, Pink Bourbon) fit this tier.
- Organic not required — no certification barrier.
- Award-winning roaster — crema Roaster of the Year 2025 signals a customer base that values quality and can support premium pricing.
- WoC Brussels 2026 — miró will likely be present at World of Coffee Brussels (June 25–27, 2026) as an established Swiss roaster. Primary meeting opportunity.
Note: miró’s La Riviera – Sudan Rume Lot (Colombia, sold out) suggests existing interest in rare heirloom varieties like Sudan Rume — a variety Kaiserblick also grows.
